eQHealth Solutions is pleased to be selected by the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) to provide services for the ColoradoPAR (prior authorization request) program, effective September 1, 2015. Together, eQHealth and HCPF will serve Medicaid members by focusing on and implementing HCPF’s mission to improve health care access and outcomes for the people we serve while demonstrating sound stewardship of financial resources.

The ColoradoPAR Program reviews PARs for the following services and supplies: 
    Behavioral Therapy
 Diagnostic imaging
 Durable medical equipment (DME)
    Habilitative Speech Therapy - Adult
 Inpatient out-of-state admissions
 Medical services including transplant and bariatric surgery
 Physical & occupational therapy
 Pediatric long term home health (LTHH)
 Private duty nursing
 Synagis®
 Vision  

Please note: For the above categories, all PARs for clients age 20 and under are reviewed according to EPSDT guidelines.

Update from the Colorado Department of Healthcare Policy and Financing

On July 1, 2016, a systems change was implemented that aligned the Department’s billing system with the policy requiring all specialty lenses and ocular devices to be prior authorized, resulting in claims denials for V2784 and other V codes.  Unfortunately, this change was not appropriately messaged in advance to our providers.  We apologize for this oversight and propose the following temporary solution:


The PAR requirement will be temporarily removed from claims for V2784 and the other V codes that were activated on July 1, 2016.

A mass adjustment will be made of any claims denied for V2784 and the other V codes that were active on July 1,  2016 based on lack of a valid PAR.  You will not have to resubmit the denied claims.


The Department will continue to review the policy for these codes as part of the larger vision services review occurring this summer/fall.   Further guidance will be forthcoming and any changes will be messaged to providers appropriately in the Department’s Provider Bulletin.  Providers who are not automatically receiving the bulletins may find them online here.


The Department apologizes for the disconnect that resulted in a systems change getting ahead of provider communications.

Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program) - Monday, June 27, 2016

Effective June 27, 2016, Medicaid in Colorado will be called “Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program).” New cards issued to members will have the Health First Colorado name and logo, however old cards are still valid. Members do not need to request new cards. Visit healthfirstcolorado.com for more information.

Deadline Extended!! The provider community has expressed difficulties in obtaining requested additional PAR documentation within 4 business days. 

We have heard you and are taking action!  Starting June 14th, 2016 we have extended the time providers have to respond to a request for additional information to 10 business days.
IMPORTANT: All necessary documentation should still be uploaded as soon as possible to prevent any delay in the care of your patient.
